Save A Life Adoption Day
Saturday August 17
That’s why Just For Pets created Save A Life National Adoption day taking place, Saturday August 17th at participating Just For Pets stores across Australia.
Save A Life day was created to assist in the rehoming of unwanted pets and to raise awareness to the different ways to ensure over time we lower the rate of animals entering shelters or pounds, including desexing and microchipping awareness.
By showcasing rescue animals in search of forever homes through our national adoption day it gives them an extra window of exposure to pet owners who many not know the options available to acquire a rescue pet. All pets available for adoption are de-sexed, microchipped have had veterinary work completed and, in some states, includes council registration too.
Since our first Save A Life day in 2015, Save A Life day has assisted in the rehoming of over 350 animals. As well as assisting with adoptions, each store has played a huge part in raising funds for their chosen rescue by way of BBQ’s, raffles, cupcake stalls and overall donations in stores.
Most of our stores offer adoption all year round too, so if you can’t wait until Save A Life day, that’s ok, chances are your local store has rescue pets looking for furever homes today.
How you can help reduce pet abandonment:
Reducing pet abandonment is as easy as 1, 2, 3.
- Desex your pet. Desexed pets means fewer accidental litters, feral animals and strays.
- Microchip your pet. If you are separated, your furry friend can be returned to you.
- Get help! If you’re having difficulty choosing the right pet for you, continuing to care for a pet you already have or you find an abandoned animal, speak to your local Just For Pets pet experts. They know how to help.
